Better than an Energy Drink

I’ve been tired lately – 43 years can take its toll, apparently.  I don’t drink those energy drinks that are so popular now, but I probably do consume too much coffee and Diet Coke.  What has been giving me an energy boost lately is hearing from you on the campaign trail.  I can’t tell you how much it means to hear people like Mr. Wilson, the emcee at the Eastover MayFest Parade on Saturday say: “There’s David Adams, the Richland County Treasurer – he’s everywhere!”

The vote on June 10th might not be about who is the most qualified to handle 500,000 tax payments and $700 million of your money the most efficiently – though it should be.  A political campaign is often about who touches and helps the most people, and who cares most about fixing problems.  Even if that is the measurement for this election, it is fine by me because I have spent the last 10 ¾ years in our communities helping make government work as it should.

As I walked the parade route, and shook every hand at the Eastover MayFest, and listened to the people who were there, it was obvious that our efforts to help every person in Richland County have been recognized by the people we serve in the Treasurer’s Office every day.

I have tried to be everywhere. I pride myself on that.  I have used my daily interactions with the citizens of Richland County to find new ways to make our Treasurer’s office the most responsive and innovative in South Carolina.  It is because of you that I love this job.

Working with you, and hearing from you, is better motivation than any energy drink ever could be. Thank you!
